Paring: Sean A./Elijah
Summary: AU: Some things are just meant to happen while others are simply ripples off of one small mistake that change us forever. (Read AU Description, and also AN; behind cut)
AU Description: Never filmed LotR, Sean is a writer (novels and screenplays) and aspiring director struggling to be noticed after stepping away from acting lime light after his marriage (only child: Ally) and Elijah is a young (23(present)) actor who can hold his own on screen, just after filming Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (I know time frame is wrong for age, sorry).
Rating: R (over-all)---prologue: G
AN: More chapters to come; Work In Progress. The beginning starts with implied Domlij and will also later feature Monaboyd but main focus is Seanlijah *wink*. Sorta the Sliding Doors (movie) affect because of what Elijah does in this prolog; although the same idea of catching your lover in bed with another is also in here but didn’t really mean to lift that from the movie, just liked the idea that one small thing changing you entire life. Sorry for all the blabbing and any silly clichés that come up in here :D

Prologue
Elijah had always enjoyed reading. Ever since he could remember he’d love to sit down with a cup of hot coco; now in adulthood replaced by a slim cigarette and mug of black coffee, and immerse himself in the written word. The simple way writers could spin such normal words into images so beautifully vivid and eloquent perplexed him beyond belief. Those vivid depictions always gave him a way to escape to worlds unfathomable by nature’s law. It was probably this reason alone which had driven him to become an actor. He believed that acting for someone else could do for those who watched what reading did for him; transport their minds to a new world they’d never dreamed of.
After fifteen years working as a child actor Elijah had finally found a script that touched him in a way that gave him hope he might just be able to bring his audience into a world free of bad memories; Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. He hadn’t been offered a very large role but a role none the less, so he took it.
The shoot was suppose to last for a few weeks or so but the director, taking his assistant director’s advice, ended up cutting one of his scenes to half its original running time; so Elijah was coming home a few days early. He wasn’t upset with the edits nor complained about them. He intended to keep his spirits high so as he sat in an airport café he let his thoughts wonder to being able to treat Dominic to a surprise visit as soon as he got home; which would be in a few hours.

A toxic plume of murky smoke languidly began to wreath his head after passing slowly from between two flushed lips. The stench of nicotine grappled onto the tips of his short disheveled auburn hair; he normally wore it in whatever style his pillow could form during the night. He futilely tried to whisk away the allusive smoke with his hand as he bent to sip his coffee. The last bit of black liquid burned as it snaked its way down Elijah’s throat. With a quiet clink he set the mug down and turned in his seat to glance around the practically empty café.
The tan walls were unobtrusively bland and lined with short imitation wood bookshelves. They all were stocked full of novels perfect for reading on long, or short, plane rides. Elijah had been initially tempted to buy one for his trip but knew they’d all be either about lawyers fighting against their own corrupt firms or heaving bosoms that he’d never really cared for in the first place. So he decided to go to his plan B; pay for his coffee and just sleep on the plane.
He stood from the small two person table, snubbing out the nearly spent cigarette in the glass ashtray at the center of the table, and headed for the cashier, passing by a table set up to display new releases in hard back. With arms hung limply at his side and mind still numbed from lack of sleep combined with a rush of nicotine he clumsily bumped into the set up, knocking one of the hard bound books off the table. The noise startled him and he quickly, with a blush creeping up the back of his neck to tinge his ears a slight pink hue, bent to retrieve the fallen book.
The book was very intriguing; completely pitch black, save the grand looping, gothic scarlet letters embossed deep within the hard cover. He traced the title with his index finger, The Inevitable, marveling at the contrast between his famously alabaster skin and the black and red combination. Turning the book in his hands he glanced at the spine of the book looking for the author’s name not mentioned on the cover. Across the thick spine in small print was and embossed, S. Astin.
‘Astin…Sean Astin? Where have I heard that name before…’ He thought as he began to thumb through the book. Beyond the first page was a list of previously published books authored by Mr. Astin, among them was a book Elijah had fallen in love a few years back that Dom had given him for his birthday. Elijah’s copy of Somewhere Out There was now tattered from over use; it had been a beautiful book he’d read a thousand times over…the easy flow and ebb of words comforted him every time he read it.
In one word the book had been like benediction.
He had to buy it; if not to be entertained on the plane ride home then to discovery if this Sean Astin still possessed his captivating talent.
Clutching the book possessively between his hands he finally reached the cashier, narrowly missing taking out another display table. The young blond woman, who looked to be about seventeen, stood behind the counter took the offered book and asked Elijah what he’d had to drink before leaning in close.
“Ya wanna know what I heard ‘bout this book?” She asked in a whisper, tilting the book in her hand to bring his attention towards it. His brow furrowed, blue eyes clouded with anticipation and inquiry, before one eyebrow was pulled up questioningly.
“What?” He whispered back, not quite sure why, as he placed a twenty on the counter that was covered by a thin film of coffee grounds. Taking the money and giving Elijah his change she placed the book in a brown paper bag.
“I hear that Mr. Astin, the author, is wanting to turn this book inta a movie. Oh, and,” she said with hushed emphasis, “that he wants ta also direct. Ain’t that cool?” Her face was completely euphoric as she asked him once more in a hushed cry. She brushed a stray strand of hair behind her ear trying to regain some of her composure. “I mean I read the book and simply loved it; I just know you’ll enjoy it.” Her smile was enough to solidify his first instincts into believing the book would be a treasure.
The speakers that lined the walls of the terminal sounded before a cracked automated voice announced that his flight to Las Angeles was to be leaving in twenty minutes. He grabbed his messenger bag and slung it over his shoulder, paper bag held subconsciously firm to his chest.
‘“Wanting to turn this book inta a movie”…a book translated into a movie…it’s perfect.’

AN: I know it’s not much right now but the rest of the fic will be more interesting and romantic I just don’t know if this plot bunny, well rabbit since its big fic, is any good…plus on top of that I’ve recently felt like I can’t write very well anymore so umm I’m kinda lost right now…if ya made it this far thank you for reading. *huggles ya’ll*
